Job summary

E.S. Wagner Co., LLC, a heavy civil and highway construction firm, seeks an Intern/Co-Op for Summer 2026 in Charlotte, NC. You will be assigned to Field Engineering/Management or Estimating/Office Engineering to gain real-world civil construction experience.

Responsibilities include assisting with layout, scheduling, site inspections, safety, cost estimation, and procurement tasks while collaborating with field management, subcontractors, and owners.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student pursuing a degree.
• Interest in the Construction Industry and teamwork.
• Demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project layout, shop drawing submittals, the project schedule, and other aspects of managing the work.
• Complete site inspections to produce daily reports of the work and subcontractor activities; ensure environmental compliance.
• Interact with field management, subcontractors and owners to learn day-to-day civil operations and safety requirements.
• Help develop cost estimates from contract documents and plans with the bid team.
• Utilize software to perform quantity takeoffs for hard bid estimates.
• Assist in preparing subcontracts and purchase orders and gather quantity data for progress reports.
