Job description

Join to apply for the Civil Engineer - Water Wastewater role at Thomas & Hutton.

This position is based in Nashville, TN and requires 2-5 years of experience in water and wastewater design, preferably in a consulting engineering environment. Responsibilities include utility design work such as pipe, treatment plant, tank, and pump station design. The role involves regular client interaction, with prior experience working with municipal clients. Strong communication skills, experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, and hydraulic system modeling software are required.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Biosystems Engineering. Professional Engineering registration is strongly preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience working with municipal water/wastewater clients.
Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in planning, design, construction administration, and permitting of infrastructure improvements.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours (730AM - 530PM Mon-Thurs, 730AM - 1130AM Fri) with occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Client service orientation, self-starter, team player.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to visit construction sites, attend meetings, and meet clients.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, utility materials, and water/wastewater technologies.
  • Understanding of hydraulic analysis and design.
  • Time management skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Basic financial reporting skills for project performance evaluation.
  • Strong leadership qualities.
