Job summary

Derive is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer with Water Resources experience to join our Phoenix team. You will work on planning, designing, and managing municipal and land development projects across Arizona, including stormwater mastery planning, drainage design, and water/wastewater infrastructure.

You will engage with clients and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team throughout all project phases. You should bring a strong foundation in H&H analysis, proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Experience in Water Resources or Land Development Engineering; PE license preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Strong understanding of hydrology & hydraulics analysis and drainage design.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydraulic modeling software.
  • Flo-2D and SWMM experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Organized, self-motivated, able to manage multiple projects.
  • Mentoring mindset and ability to collaborate across disciplines.
  • Public works and/or municipal experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and manage municipal and land development projects.
  • Conduct stormwater/drainage master planning and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling.
  • Perform floodplain analysis and FEMA permitting.
  • Carry out bridge/culvert hydraulic studies and water/wastewater utility design.
  • Assist with grading, roads, site development, parks and recreation infrastructure.
  • Prepare cost estimates and technical reports; lead client meetings and project coordination.
  • Manage projects from concept through construction.

What You'll Do

You'll be involved in planning, designing, and managing a variety of municipal and land development projects, including:

  • Stormwater and drainage master planning
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
  • Floodplain analysis and FEMA permitting
  • Bridge and culvert hydraulic studies
  • Water and wastewater utility design
  • Grading, roadway, and site development
  • Parks, trails, and recreation infrastructure
  • Cost estimating and technical reports
  • Client meetings and project coordination
  • Project management from concept through construction
