Job summary

City of Houston, Department of Public Works, seeks a licensed Professional Engineer to supervise design and construction of Capital Improvement Projects (drainage, paving, water and wastewater).

You will prepare and review plans, specs, reports, and cost estimates; review contracts and pay estimates; lead progress meetings, conduct on-site inspections, and manage consultants and contractors. Reporting location: 611 Walker Street, 17th Floor, Houston, TX.

Qualifications

• Requires graduation from an approved curriculum in engineering with satisfactory standing.
• Or graduation from an engineering or related science curriculum and passing the FE exam.
• A Texas Professional Engineer license is required; out-of-state engineers must obtain TX license within six months.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision of design and construction of CIP projects (drainage, paving, water and wastewater).
• Prepare/review plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates; review contracts and pay estimates.
• Attend and conduct progress meetings; perform on-site field observations/inspections; supervise consultants/contractors.
• Respond to inquiries from City departments, consultants, agencies, contractors and the public.
