Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Civil Engineer–Roadway for a full-time, on-site role in Tulsa, OK. You will perform roadway design and analysis, including geometry, alignments, and safety improvements, and prepare construction documents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; PE licensure preferred.
  • Strong foundation in civil engineering with transportation/roadway project experience.
  • Experience with design software and DOT standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform roadway design and analysis including horizontal/vertical alignments and geometry.
  • Prepare construction documents, plans, and specifications; support cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and clients; support permitting activities.
  • Assist with stormwater and drainage considerations related to roadway projects.
  • Contribute to project planning, manage tasks and schedules, and participate in QA/QC reviews.

Role Description The Civil Engineer–Roadway role is a full-time, on-site position based in Tulsa, OK. The individual in this role will perform roadway design and analysis, including horizontal and vertical alignments, roadway geometry, and safety improvements for transportation projects. Daily responsibilities include preparing construction documents, plans, and specifications; supporting cost estimates; and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. The role involves assisting with stormwater and drainage considerations related to roadway projects, supporting permitting activities, and collaborating with clients and agencies. The Civil Engineer–Roadway will also contribute to project planning, help manage tasks and schedules, and participate in quality control reviews to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Civil Engineering and experience working as a civil engineer on transportation or roadway projects.
  • Proficiency in Civil Engineering Design, including roadway geometry, alignments, grading, and related infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of Planning principles relevant to transportation and roadway projects, including feasibility and corridor studies.
  • Understanding of Stormwater Management practices, drainage design, and regulatory requirements as they apply to roadway projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field; eligibility for or possession of Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred.
  • Experience with industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D or similar) and applicable DOT standards.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and time-management skills, with the ability to coordinate with clients, agencies, and internal teams.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality work, attention to detail, and willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative environment.
