Job summary

MacKay is seeking a Civil Project Manager in Pasco, Washington, to lead projects from planning through design completion, coordinate client relationships, engineering teams, and subconsultants, and deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions that benefit communities.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, 7+ years of experience, a WA Professional Engineer license, and proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams while building trusted client

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and PE license in WA required.
  • 7+ years of civil engineering project experience with budgets and schedules.
  • Strong knowledge of local development codes, permits, and standards.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality control.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
  • Oversee engineering teams, subconsultants, and support staff.
  • Lead site development plans, reports, calculations, and permits.
  • Review and approve designs for codes and client requirements.
  • Support business development through proposals and opportunities.
  • Facilitate client, agency, and internal team meetings.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and staff.
  • Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions.

We are looking for a dedicated, motivated, and relationship-driven Civil Project Manager to join our team in Pasco, Washington.

In this role, you’ll lead projects from initial planning through design completion, managing client relationships, project teams, and technical execution for a variety of projects. We’re looking for someone with strong relationship cultivation skills, leadership abilities, a proactive mindset, and a passion for delivering projects that positively impact the communities we serve.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality control.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong and responsive relationships.
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of engineering teams, subconsultants, and support staff.
  • Lead the preparation of site development plans, reports, calculations, and permit applications.
  • Review and approve technical designs, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and client requirements.
  • Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and participating in proposal development.
  • Facilitate meetings with clients, public agencies, and internal teams to discuss project progress and resolve challenges.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and project team members.
  • Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions when needed to maintain project goals.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to provide innovative solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 7 or more years of related experience in civil engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington
  • Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong knowledge of local development codes, standards, and permitting processes.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other industry-related design software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues, and public agency staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10 years of progressive project management experience.
  • P.E. license in OR, ID/MT is a plus
  • Experience working with public sector clients and contracting.
  • Established relationships with local municipalities and reviewing agencies.
  • Business development experience, including proposal writing and client presentations.
  • Strong mentoring skills with the ability to lead and develop junior staff.
  • Experience with project management software tools (such as Microsoft Project, Deltek Vantagepoint or similar tools).

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as various market and business considerations.

US Pay Range: $125,000 USD - $150,000 USD

Full-time employees receive a well-rounded benefit package including access to our company-sponsored Medical (including an HSA High Deductible option), Dental, Vision, FSA, and Supplemental Life Insurance plans. We also offer 100% company-paid Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability coverage. Employees are eligible to participate in our company's 401(k) plan with up to a 4% match. Additionally, employees receive paid vacation and sick time, 11 paid holidays, and are able to participate in employee ownership options. MacKay pays for expenses associated with licensure as well as annual performance bonuses.
