Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Act as project manager to municipalities or public agencies and be the single point of contact.
  • Develop or implement engineering solutions to improve and maintain infrastructure.
  • Design transportation, utility, facility, or hydraulic systems using CAD tools.
  • Compute loads, water flow rates, and material stresses to define design specs.
  • Estimate quantities and costs to determine project feasibility.
  • Analyze survey data, maps, drawings, and geologic information.
  • Conduct traffic/environmental studies to assess impacts.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Identify environmental risks and develop risk management strategies.
  • Attend public meetings as Municipal Engineer or Land Use Board Engineer and present reports.
  • Provide technical advice on design, construction, or capital modifications.
  • Support field activities of construction inspection with data and coordination.

Job description

  • Responsible for acting as the project manager to one or more municipalities or other public agencies. The project manager will act as the single point of contact between the firm and the project. They will supervise and coordinate all projects performed in the firm on behalf of the client, to the client's satisfaction.
  • Develop or implement engineering solutions to assist clients with improving and maintaining their infrastructure.
  • Design transportation, utility, facility, or hydraulic systems or structures (as appropriate) using computer assisted design or drawing tools.
  • Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specifications.
  • Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic data.
  • Conduct studies of traffic patterns or environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess potential project impact.
  • Perform all design activities ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, or other governmental regulations.
  • Identify environmental risks and develop risk management strategies for projects.
  • Attend regularly scheduled public meetings (conducted by Municipal clients) in the capacity of Municipal Engineer, or Land Use Board Engineer. Prepare and present public reports on topics such as bid proposals, project status reports and developmental review projects.
  • Provide technical advice to clients regarding design, construction, or capital program modifications.
  • Support of the field activities of our construction inspection staff, including providing timely data, shop drawing review, and client coordination.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to draft reports including illustrations, appendices, maps and other attachments to summarize research results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Stormwater Modeling Software, Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license required
  • 5-8 years' related work experience
Working Environment/Physical Requirements

This role may involve work in the office, in the field, or both, depending on role and/or project needs. Field assignments may include exposure to outdoor conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow, as well as occasional swing shifts, night work, and proximity to active traffic, requiring strict safety awareness and compliance. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn regularly in accordance with OSHA and other safety regulations. Field work requires frequent walking, standing, crouching, bending, kneeling, reaching, and balancing on uneven or slippery surfaces, as well as the ability to climb ladders, enter trenches or confined spaces, and lift or carry materials typically ranging from 10 to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must provide own transportation to travel to job site(s). Office work may involve prolonged sitting, typing, reading, and writing. Good vision and hearing are essential for both environments
