A leading engineering firm in Ann Arbor is looking for a Mid-Level Civil Engineer to join their team on hybrid working terms. This role involves collaborating on civil engineering projects, focusing on industrial site development, especially in renewable energy. Summary:
The person in this position will work with project teams on civil engineering and related technical assignments. This position generally aligns with development of industrial sites and power delivery, with the option of branching into other sectors as needed. Work will include assisting engineers and clients with the development of wind and solar projects, preparation of construction documents, site evaluations, feasibility studies, road design, grading, stormwater design, preparation of technical reports, and other tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
Five or more years of related work experience
Professional engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain certification within one year
Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Civil 3D
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Willingness to work in a project team environment that encourages self-initiative and cross-office collaboration
Flexible working style as required to meet project deadlines and/or client needs
Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
Possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with preparation of plans and specifications, analyzing alternatives, and developing quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
Construction administration experience, such as review and response to payment applications, submittals, and claims and interpreting plans, specifications, and bid documents
Experience drafting PowerPoint presentations, memos, and report text and figures
Seven or more years of related work experience
Proficient in Civil 3D
Experience with GIS-based software
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr’s Ann Arbor, Michigan, office.
Compensation:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $ 82,000- $98,000 /year. This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Compensation will vary based upon relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. Barr has a “no retained earnings” model and distributes all its profit to our employees through our bonus plan and ESOP.
NOTE: Applicants must be able to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and must be able to enter and work in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Position will require lifting or moving field-testing equipment. Safety training will be provided before being given work assignments on these sites. Applicants will be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of clients.
