Job summary

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Civil Engineer to support solid waste facilities with airspace calculations, landfill grading, and leachate/gas system design.

You’ll also help prepare technical reports and work across office and field environments. You’ll contribute to data management, regulatory compliance, and project coordination with clients and contractors, while developing skills in project execution and engineering design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
• Previous internship experience preferred.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite for technical documentation and communication.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, or similar engineering modeling software.
• Communicate effectively through written and verbal formats.
• Ability to follow direction, manage tasks, and meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering analyses, including airspace modeling, excavation and fill volume calculations, and technical evaluations.
• Prepare and assist with technical reports, design plans, specifications, and supporting documentation.
• Design stormwater management systems and support landfill grading and infrastructure design, including leachate and landfill gas collection systems.
• Conduct field work, including Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) for landfill construction and closure projects.
• Manage and analyze project data to support engineering design and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with project teams, clients, contractors, and field staff to support project execution.
• Ensure quality and accuracy of deliverables in accordance with regulatory and client requirements.
