GEI Consultants, Inc. seeks Geotechnical Engineers to join our Allendale, MI office.

The Geotechnical Engineer will coordinate, oversee, and manage subsurface exploration activities; develop geotechnical engineering reports, and support GEI’s geotechnical and geostructural design teams with geotechnical design activities. Placement, responsibilities, and scope of work will be determined based on the applicant’s experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; preferred.
• 0–3 years of professional geotechnical experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with clients to schedule and perform subsurface exploration activities.
• Coordinate, direct, and oversee drilling subcontractors during exploration.
• Perform visual engineering classifications and lab testing on recovered samples.
• Develop a geotechnical engineering report in support of project design.
• Support GEI's design team with geotechnical aspects of MSE, SOE, industrial, and hydropower projects.
• Perform construction oversight on GEI design projects.
• Prepare design drawings in AutoCAD with oversight from senior staff.

GEI is expanding and we are seeking Geotechnical Engineers to join our growing Allendale MI office. The Geotechnical Engineer will coordinate, oversee, and manage subsurface exploration activities; develop geotechnical engineering reports, and support GEI’s geotechnical and geostructural design teams with geotechnical design activities. • Coordinate, direct, and oversee drilling subcontractors during the exploration.
• Perform visual engineering classifications and lab testing on the recovered samples.
• Develop a geotechnical engineering report in support of the project design.

Minimum Qualifications

• Working toward B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
• 0-3 years of professional experience.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and be able to work well alone or in a team environment.
• Must be willing to travel on temporary assignments as necessary, including field assignments.
