Job Title: Civil Engineer in Training (EIT)

Department: Public Works

Location: Dallas

Reports To: Director of Engineering

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) with a strong foundation in public works principles to join our growing team. This individual will contribute to a wide range of public works projects, working collaboratively to produce high-quality designs that meet client needs and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  1. Site Design: Assist in preparing site development plans, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility layouts, and erosion and sediment control plans.
  2. Technical Calculations: Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, earthwork and volume computations, and other engineering analyses to support project designs.
  3. Software Applications: Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, StormCAD), and other relevant design tools.
  4. Regulatory Compliance: Research and apply local, state, and federal regulations and design standards.
  5. Project Support: Prepare permit applications, technical reports, and cost estimates.
  6. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, senior engineers, drafters, and other team members to execute projects efficiently.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  2. Certification: Engineer in Training (EIT) certification obtained by passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  3. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in public works engineering with an emphasis on site design concepts.
  4. Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and familiarity with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software.
  5. Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of site grading, drainage principles, stormwater management, utility design, and relevant regulations.
