Job summary

Stantec in Columbus, OH, seeks an Engineer in Training to contribute to water resources projects including flood protection, stormwater management, and water/wastewater conveyance. • Completion of an accredited degree program for Civil, Environmental, or FABE Engineering is required.
• Valid driver’s license required
• Candidates will be expected to take and pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within one year of hire.
• Previous internship or co-op experience is a plus
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Your Opportunity

As an Engineer in Training based in our Columbus office, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to water resources related projects. Our projects involve flood protection and risk reduction, stormwater management, water/wastewater treatment and conveyance, sewer tunneling, stream restoration, green infrastructure, and other aspects of civil engineering. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable individuals who have completed (or will soon complete) civil, environmental, or FABE engineering coursework. This is a terrific opportunity for a candidate to support a number of exciting local and national projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

Candidate will assist engineering and administrative staff with such tasks as:

• Data processing and management using GIS to support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling

• Preparing spreadsheets, graphs, and figures for design reports

• Preparing design and construction plans, calculations, specifications, quantity take-offs and construction estimates

• Assisting with field work for data collection, site inspections and observations

• Building surface models and drafting in AutoCAD Civil3D

• Supporting Project Managers with various tasks to advance and track project progress

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Experience with the following software applications is desired, but not required: AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcMap/GIS, PCSWMM, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS

• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

• Must have good organizational skills, be reliable, detail orientated, and capable of working independently on assigned tasks

• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction

Education and Experience

• Completion of an accredited degree program for Civil, Environmental, or FABE Engineering is required. For those who have not yet graduated, job offers will be contingent upon completion of degree program.

• Valid driver’s license required

• Candidates will be expected to take and pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within one year of hire.

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
