Job summary

State of Illinois is seeking a Civil Engineer III to prepare design reports, plans and specifications for highway improvement projects using CAD tools. You will manage technical aspects of report preparation, ensure standards compliance, and supervise exhibits for coordination with agencies and public meetings.

Minimum qualifications include an ABET‑accredited engineering degree and 37 months of civil engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Strong oral and written communication skills required.
• ABET-accredited BS in Engineering or equivalent.
• Illinois Engineer Intern Certificate or Professional Engineer license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design reports, plans, and specifications for highway improvement projects using CADD.
• Manage technical aspects of project report and plan preparation within deadlines.
• Assemble plans to ensure completeness and correct quantity scheduling.
• Instruct staff on project report and department procedures.
• Supervise preparation of exhibits for coordination with outside agencies and public meetings.
