Description

RETTEW is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to fill an open Engineer 2 position to support our growing Municipal Team.

As a dynamic, client-focused Civil Engineer 2, you will support the Municipal Team with projects including subdivision, land development and stormwater management plan preparation and review, construction observation and fieldwork, and community planning. Prior experience in municipal engineering and EIT certification is necessary for this position. Please ensure that you meet these qualifications before applying.

Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities
  1. Municipal engineering work, including subdivision, land development, and stormwater management plan preparation and review, construction observation and fieldwork, and community planning.
  2. Design work may include street, curb, and sidewalk reconstruction plans, stormwater management plans, municipal building sites, and park and recreation plans.
  3. Grant applications, plans, and funding research.
  4. Performs moderate design tasks including computations and analysis.
  5. Prepares portions of plans, specifications, and other project documents; assists with preparation of other engineering deliverables.
  6. Performs research and field investigations, collects data, and gathers information or documents.
  7. Develops and/or assists with tasks such as field activities including construction activities, material testing, CADD work, permit applications, and report writing.
  8. Ability to effectively present projects to clients and regulatory authorities.
Program, Project, and Task Management
  1. Works as part of a team and coordinates work with others.
  2. Assists in determining schedule and budget requirements.
  3. Follows tasks through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
  4. Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope.
  5. Uses standard programs to complete project and administrative deliverables.
Management, Supervision, and Guidance
  1. Receives instruction on specific objectives.
  2. Receives direction on unconventional and/or complex problems and possible solutions.
  3. Receives a thorough review of completed work for the application of sound professional judgment.
  4. Attains mentored experience from senior technical staff and/or a licensed engineer, typically in their specialty.
Communication, Teamwork, and Leadership
  1. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
  2. Demonstrates assertiveness and cooperation in managing conflicts.
  3. Interacts with internal and external project team members.
  4. Assists with official communication about specific assignments/meetings.
Requirements
  1. BS in Civil Engineering.
  2. EIT required.
  3. Minimum three years of general municipal engineering experience.
  4. Good written and verbal communication skills.
  5. AutoCAD Civil 3D & ArcGIS experience a plus.
  6. Ability to read and understand municipal ordinances and regulations.
  7. Ability to travel to job sites, meetings, and other offices as necessary.
