Job Summary

Starting Salary:

  • Civil Engineer I Contract: $27.95 - $35.645 hourly
  • Civil Engineer II Contract: $29.73 - $37.90 hourly
  • Civil Engineer III Contract: $31.59 - $40.285 hourly
  • Civil Engineer IV Contract: $34.60 - $44.11 hourly
Nature Of Work

Performs professional engineering work in design or review of engineering plans for streets, sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, traffic signals, and parking facilities. Conducts traffic studies, analyzes crash data, and manages traffic data collection. Reviews plans submitted by consulting firms to ensure compliance with city standards. Work scope is defined by a supervisor; employee plans details and makes technical decisions. Work is reviewed during and after completion.

Minimum Qualifications
Civil Engineer I
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and 6 months experience in transportation engineering or equivalent
  • Valid Florida Driver's License required
Civil Engineer II
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and 2 years experience in transportation engineering, including 1 year in development review, traffic studies, or crash data analysis; or equivalent
  • Ability to work independently
  • Valid Florida Driver's License required
Civil Engineer III
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and 4 years experience including 2 years in relevant areas; or equivalent
  • Registration as an Engineer Intern (EI) required
  • One year supervisory experience desired
Civil Engineer IV
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and 4 years experience including 2 years in relevant areas; or equivalent
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Florida required
  • One year supervisory experience desired

This is a full-time CONTRACT position with benefits similar to full-time employment, usually renewable annually.
