We are seeking a Civil Engineer I to support the design, development and delivery of civil engineering projects across a range of infrastructure and built-environment schemes. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will contribute to projects from early concept through to construction, gaining broad exposure to technical design, site activities and project coordination. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate or early-career engineer to develop practical experience within a collaborative, professional environment.
Your responsibilities will include preparing calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports and cost estimates; assisting with the design of roads, drainage systems, earthworks, utilities and other civil infrastructure; and reviewing information to ensure that designs meet relevant standards, regulations and client requirements. You will support surveys, site investigations and inspections, record site information accurately, and assist with resolving technical issues during construction. The role will also involve liaising with colleagues, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders, attending project meetings, monitoring progress and contributing to risk assessments, quality assurance and health and safety procedures.
Applicants should hold, or be working towards, a degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering and have a genuine interest in developing a career within the profession. Knowledge of relevant British Standards, design guidance and health and safety legislation would be advantageous. Experience using engineering design and calculation software, computer-aided design packages and Microsoft Office applications is desirable. You will need strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, together with clear written and verbal communication abilities. We are looking for someone who is organised, adaptable and willing to learn, with the ability to manage priorities, work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate initiative when supporting project delivery. A willingness to travel to project and construction sites may be required.
