Job summary

Thomas & Hutton is seeking a Civil Engineer to contribute to site development and utility design for mission critical and data center projects in the Southeast. You will model infrastructure in Civil 3D and collaborate with engineers and leadership on complex designs.

Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering degree, an EIT or PE track, and 3+ years with Civil 3D. Strong communication and multitasking abilities are essential as you balance client coordination and internal reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months (PE path preferred).
• 3+ years of experience designing land development projects using Civil 3D.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software applications.
• Experience with surface modeling and underground utility design preferred.
• Interest or experience in plan and profile design of water/sewer systems; duct bank design experience a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to engage in client interactions.
• Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize workflow.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Develop design considerations and supporting calculations for site development.
• Prepare reports, specifications, permit applications, and supporting documentation.
• Model and design infrastructure using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including surface creation and utility layouts.
• Analyze site data, existing conditions, and entitlements to support client site selection efforts.
• Participate in client meetings and multidisciplinary coordination, providing technical input.
• Review work prepared by others for quality and consistency.
• Manage tasks to meet scope, schedule, and quality goals in a fast-paced project environment.

On‑site: Monday–Thursday 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
