Job summary

Thomas & Hutton in Columbia, SC seeks a Civil Engineer to design site development for data center projects and to prepare AutoCAD Civil 3D models with surface creation and utility layouts.

You will analyze site data, coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to design calculations and permitting documentation in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months (PE path preferred).
• 3+ years of experience designing land development projects using Civil 3D.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software applications.
• Experience with surface modeling and underground utility design preferred.
• Interest or experience in plan and profile design of water/sewer systems; duct bank design experience a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to engage in client interactions.
• Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and appropriately prioritize workflow.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to perform in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

• Design water, sewer, storm drainage, and complex underground utility infrastructure systems
• Develop engineering design considerations and supporting calculations for site development projects
• Prepare reports, specifications, permit applications, and supporting documentation
• Model and design infrastructure using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including surface creation and utility layouts

• Participate in client meetings and multidisciplinary coordination, providing technical input and guidance
