Overview




EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION:

MBP is seeking new Team Members looking for growth opportunities and working on meaningful projects that support our community. For this position, we are seeking candidates in the Washington/Baltimore DC metropolitan areas with 10 or more years of combined education and/or experience and demonstrated advanced knowledge and expertise in construction quality management related to the installation of Architectural (interior and building envelope) work activities. Experience in supporting the successful completion of new and/or renovation projects in healthcare, laboratory, education (higher-ed and K-12), and/or federal or local government projects desired. Evidence of progressive career development and demonstrated expertise in quality control, quality assurance, construction management, engineering design, or related fields.






Responsibilities




MAIN DUTIES:
    Represents client on-site providing quality assurance, documentation, cost control and time management related services.
  • Maintains a redlined set of as-built plans and specifications.
  • Performs on-site compliance inspection, quality assurance and progress monitoring, and payment application review at various construction projects for conformance to specifications and codes.
  • Coordinates, monitors, and manages inspection activities on project(s).
  • Verifies that construction is performed in accordance with contract plans and specifications, approved shop drawings, approved material lists, and permit requirements.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with Owner, Contractor, Designer, and MBP personnel.
  • Performs final inspections, prepares punchlists, and ensures all items on the punchlist are completed or corrected by the contractor.
  • Maintains project records including daily reports documenting work performed by construction contractors, including detailed locations of work, construction workforce, equipment, and materials records, as well as project photos and inspection reports.
  • Coordinates and tracks submittals and requests for information. Maintains project correspondence.
  • Participates and assists in documenting project meetings.
  • Inspects all phases of work on a project and advises the contractor superintendent or other representatives of necessary action to ensure conformance with plans, specifications, and the contract.
  • Responsible for rejection of non-compliant work as delegated by the Project Owner.
  • Reviews contractor submittals (to include materials and methods) for conformance, prepares reports and rejects/accepts submittals (within authority limits delegated by the Project Owner).
  • Provides customer services and good etiquette to the public, adjacent property owners, and other project stakeholders.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  • May be required to independently adapt and implement changes to standard construction practices and procedures to meet field conditions.
  • Obtains and maintains necessary training and certifications.
  • Actively participates in company activities, including but not limited to Area and company meetings.





Qualifications




EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:
  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), plus 10 years of related experience and/or education.
  • Associates degree, plus 8 years of related experience and/or education or higher strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field, plus 5 years of related experience and/or education experience
  • Developed advanced knowledge of engineering technology, project management, or construction materials and methods.
  • Must possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Working knowledge of basic mathematics including computations based on field measurements.
  • Considerable construction-related training or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates ability to perform the job.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools utilized in the type of construction, repair or renovation work for area of work responsible for overseeing.
  • Knowledge of a full range of construction inspection tasks ranging from routine to significant complexity.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Specialized expertise with quality assurance and quality control techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and handle all aspects of a project including client interface, technical issues, documentation, and reporting.
  • Exercises tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive and complex issues and situations.
  • Ability to identify potential problems and derive recommended solutions from past experiences.
  • Must have computer skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, Email, Internet navigation, web-based tools, and other specialized equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and contract specifications
  • Skilled at applying mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field adjustments.
  • Ability to communicate quality issues effectively and responsibly (verbally and in writing) with internal and external customers (i.e., contractors, owners, subconsultants, designers, architects and fellow team members).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications.
  • Ability to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain.
  • Must be a US Citizen

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fingerprint-based criminal history background check, reference verification, and work history will be required prior to employment.

STATUS:

Full-time

SALARY:

$95,000 - $110,000 per year
