The Engineer will be a manager‑scheduled hybrid employee located in Northern Utah, with frequent time spent in the Salt Lake City area, and will be part of the larger Ducks Unlimited Western Region team headquartered in Rancho Cordova, CA.

Candidates must have, at minimum, a B.S. in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline and be a licensed professional civil engineer in the state of Utah, or be able to obtain Utah licensure within nine (9) months of hire through comity. The Engineer should have approximately ten (10) years of progressive engineering experience. Candidates must be able to perform fieldwork that may include strenuous outdoor activity in difficult environmental conditions. Completion of safety training for small boats and all‑terrain vehicle operation will be required after the hire date.

Responsibilities

Regional Engineers perform a full range of project planning, design, contracting, and construction management functions on wetland, riparian, and associated habitat restoration projects. This position functions as a lead engineer, responsible for independently managing projects from initial scoping through construction and closeout. A close working relationship with DU biologists and engineers located in Salt Lake City, other DU staff, local, state, and federal agency personnel, private landowners, and other conservation partners is an important aspect of the job. The position will primarily include travel throughout northern Utah and may at times include limited travel to Idaho, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
