Job summary

Osborn Engineering seeks a Civil Engineer in our Orlando or St. Petersburg office to report to the Director of Civil Engineering and handle calculations, draft construction plans, and project coordination. The role supports Project Managers with communications and design coordination.

Requirements include a B.S. in Civil Engineering (ABET), 5–10 years of design/construction experience, FE, and PE eligibility within 12 months.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5–10 years of relevant design or construction experience.
  • FE Exam passed (plus).
  • PE or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment (plus).
  • Excellent technical writing, organizational, and communications skills.
  • AutoCAD proficient.
  • Civil 3D proficient.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficient.
  • Hydrology/hydraulic software proficient (e.g. Stormwise ICPR, StormCAD).
  • Stormwater quality/ nutrient removal modeling proficient (plus e.g. BMPTrains).
  • GIS software including ESRI at all levels (plus).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review designs and specifications for civil projects.
  • Prepare and review construction documents and permit submittals.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines (architects, engineers, landscape architects, surveyors).
  • Document design changes and communications.
  • Manage small to medium projects and engineering tasks.
  • Assist with project delivery management, invoicing, and financial performance.
  • Assist with development of scope, budget, and schedule for new projects and tasks.
  • Maintain excellent client relations.
  • Assist with negotiating with permitting authorities.
  • Conduct on-site inspections as needed.
  • Review construction submittals and RFIs.

Job description

Osborn is seeking a Civil Engineer in our St. Petersburg or Orlando office locations who will report to the Director of Civil Engineering and is able to prepare engineering calculations, draft construction plans, manage projects engineering tasks, and assist Project Managers with communications and design coordination. This position can lead to additional opportunities for growth in project management and leadership for candidates who demonstrate exceptional organizational, technical, and communication skills.

Job Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field, from an EAC/ABET accredited program
  • 5-10 years of relevant design or construction experience
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam passed (plus)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment (plus)
  • Excellent technical writing, organizational, and communications skills
  • AutoCAD, proficient level
  • Civil 3D, proficient level
  • Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, etc., proficient level
  • Hydrology/hydraulic software, proficient level (e.g. Stormwise ICPR software, stormcad, etc.)
  • Stormwater Quality/Nutrient removal modeling, proficient level (plus) (e.g. BMPTrains Software, etc.)
