Job description

APTIM Federal Services, LLC is currently seeking a mid-level Civil Engineer in our Norfolk, VA office to support Task Orders under our various Federal contracts. The successful candidate will possess a strong technical background in all phases of environmental site characterization and remediation including but not limited to initial investigation, civil site work, and site restoration. Strong interpersonal skills are a must, including the ability to communicate clearly and confidently, both written and verbally, to all project team members including client representatives and colleagues alike. This is a Full-Time position.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Collaborate with current engineering staff in interpretation of engineering data, development of design documents and specifications, performing detailed engineering analyses, and performing calculations and modeling utilizing software packages.
  • Apply engineering skills and knowledge to complete assigned tasks; expected to manage own time to meet schedule, budget, and quality targets.
  • Experience in preparation of work plans including erosion and sediment control plans and stormwater pollution prevention plans.
  • Periodically participate in other field tasks including but not limited to collection of environmental samples from various media (e.g., groundwater, surface water, soil, sediment, and vapor) and implementation of in-situ and ex-situ remedial actions.
  • Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor applicable regulatory requirements and stay abreast of regulatory trends.
  • Mentoring and developing Junior Engineering Staff.
  • Possess a "Safety First" work ethic.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of 4+ years' work experience in the field of civil and/or environmental engineering.
  • BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and on track to obtain a Professional Engineer license.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher certificate required.
  • USACE Construction Quality Management Training preferred.
  • Possess proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD and other engineering software programs.
  • Ability to wear proper PPE for work on hazardous waste sites; lifting and physical work will be required.
  • Must be able to work in the field in all types of field conditions/weather.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime, including weekends, to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to frequently travel to worksites that would require overnight stays.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $80,000 - $132,000 Per Year. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
