Job summary

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Designer to join our Water/Wastewater Group in Raleigh, NC. The role focuses on civil site design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, with a fast-paced, collaborative environment and ownership of project outcomes.

Responsibilities include leading design tasks, mentoring junior engineers, performing QA/QC, and coordinating with Project Managers to meet client goals and schedules. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required; Revit/BIM360 is a plus.

Timmons Group is seeking a talentedCivil Designerto join our dynamic Water/Wastewater Group inourRaleigh, NCoffice. The qualified individual will perform civil site design tasks for a variety of water/wastewater infrastructure projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities includebut are not limited to the following:

• Use professional judgment to independently complete assigned engineering designs.
• Lead and execute civil site design tasks across diverse infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers and mentor junior engineers.
• Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure technical accuracy.
• Make impactful design decisions that align with client goals and project timelines.
• Identify and resolve technical, scheduling, or financial challenges.
• Support construction oversight and respond to contractor inquiries.
• Contribute to proposals, cost estimates, and client communications.
• Act as a technical expert on assigned projects and as Project Manager on smaller scope or specialty projects as assigned.

Skills/Requirementsof a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

• At least three years of design/engineering experience in municipal infrastructure is required.
• Intermediate to advanced ability to use AutoCAD Civil 3D software is required.
• Ability to use other engineering automation tools (Revit, BIM 360) is preferred.
• Must possess strong technical verbal and technical writing skills and be able to read technical literature and engineering plans.
• Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to apply professional knowledge to the solution of both routine and non-routine tasks and engineering activities.
• Must demonstrate two-way communication to effectively work with internal staff.
