About the job

Van der Meer Consulting is a Structural and Civil Consulting Engineering group with offices in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney. Our expanding company is currently seeking a suitably qualified Civil Designer/ Draftsperson for our St Leonards office.

Education and Experience:

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Technical or Associate degree in Drafting or Civil Engineering preferred, or equivalent relevant tertiary qualifications
• Minimum 2 years’ experience gained within a consultancy environment
• Experience with Civil 3D and/ or 12D design software is desirable
• Demonstrated experience in civil design/drafting of relevant projects including (desirable):
  • Roadworks & Drainage Design
  • Functional layouts
  • Bulk Earthwork Design
  • Sewer/water design
  • Swept path analysis
  • DDA compliance
• Competent in the use and knowledge of: 12D, AutoCAD, Drains, Vehicle Tracking, Microsoft Office, Australian Standards, Local Government Design Manuals, Local State streets or training to achieve competence

Skills and Personal Attributes:

• Understanding of relevant Australian standards, State and local Government policies and guidelines
• Knowledge and application of Civil engineering codes, construction standards, specs, procedures and construction techniques
• Strong time management skills in prioritising work in over multiple projects and project phases
• Problem-solving skills
• Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate and work with other engineers, designers and drafts people
• Must demonstrate initiative and be a team player
