Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking an experienced CAD Operator to join our Roadway team in Chamblee, GA. You will develop designs, create detailed CAD drawings, and ensure quality across complex plans for transportation projects.

The role requires 3+ years of relevant experience and strong proficiency with Autodesk or Bentley software, with the ability to work independently or in a team within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (associates degree preferred)
• 3+ years of relevant experience
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products
• Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
• Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
• Ability to work independently and with a team

Responsibilities

• Develop concepts and work on preliminary engineering and final design for projects
• Develop geometric alignments, profiles, surface modeling, cross sections, grading design, drainage, superelevation, construction details, work zone traffic control, erosion control, and signing and striping plans
• Develop technical drawings and plans using CAD software
• Make and quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity and may perform some multifaceted calculations
• Require minimal supervision to perform day to day tasks
• Maintain knowledge of engineering principles and suggest design changes
• Maintain drawing database
• Coordinate work activities to meet schedules and ensure quality
• Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards

• The candidate will develop concepts as well as work on preliminary engineering and final design for projects
