Job summary

American Transmission Co. is seeking a Civil Design Engineering Intern to support its Design Engineers and Designers in Wisconsin.

You will gain hands-on experience in civil design and transmission engineering while contributing to real-world utility projects. You’ll assist with data organization, CAD drawings, and field verification, while learning from experienced professionals in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Interest in utility design and infrastructure development.
• Working knowledge of CAD tools such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Valid driver’s license for occasional field visits.

Responsibilities

• Acquire and organize engineering records and data for design development.
• Participate in material procurement and support project design documentation.
• Assist in preparing detailed drawings and conducting structural analysis.
• Review field markups and integrate into as-built drawings.
• Update asset databases and confirm field conditions for design accuracy.
• Review external consultant scopes for cost, schedule and scope alignment.
• Occasionally participate in field work to verify design implementations.
