Job summary

Thomas & Hutton is seeking a Civil Engineering intern to support land development projects in the Southeast. You’ll gain hands-on experience, learn from mentors, and contribute to real‑world design tasks while still in school.

You’ll assist with site‑development plans, AutoCAD/Civil 3D drafting, permit packages, and project documentation, developing skills that prepare you for a full‑time engineering career.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Interest in land development and site design projects.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD; exposure to Civil 3D preferred.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and contribute in a team‑oriented setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of site‑development plans for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
• Support the design of water, sewer, and storm‑drainage layouts and construction drawings.
• Assist with permit packages and coordination with regulatory agencies.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and design teams on daily project tasks.
• Support modeling and drafting efforts using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Assist with project documentation and organization to support scope, schedule, and quality goals.
