Job summary

Qualifications

• On-site work in Lake Charles, LA with safety focus.

Role Description The Civil Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Lake Charles, LA. The individual in this position will perform civil and coastal design work for restoration and flood protection projects, including preparing detailed plans, drawings, specifications, and technical reports. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting engineering analyses and calculations, coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams, and supporting project development from concept through construction documentation. The Civil Design Engineer will assist with site assessments, review designs for quality and compliance with applicable codes and standards, and provide technical support during permitting and construction phases. The role also includes collaborating with clients and stakeholders, attending project meetings, and contributing to schedule, budget, and risk management efforts.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong civil engineering design skills, including experience with grading, drainage, hydrology, and coastal or flood protection infrastructure.
• Candidates should possess proficiency with engineering and design software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation, Civil 3D or similar civil design tools, and basic hydraulic/hydrologic modeling applications.
• Candidates should possess skills in technical documentation, including preparation of plans, specifications, reports, and supporting calculations that meet regulatory and client requirements.
• Candidates should possess project coordination abilities, including organizing tasks, tracking progress, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and communicating effectively with clients and stakeholders.
• Relevant qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field; EIT certification is preferred, and PE licensure or progress toward licensure is a plus.
