Job summary

Renascent Inc. in Indianapolis is seeking a Civil/Demolition Estimator to price demolition and civil/sitework projects from takeoff through proposal, reporting to the Director of Estimating. This hands-on role combines quantity takeoffs, pricing, and risk assessment to deliver competitive bids.

You’ll perform site visits, coordinate subcontractor pricing, draft bid exclusions, and hand off won bids to Operations, with room to grow through our estimating development program.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of estimating experience in demolition or civil/sitework construction
• Ability to produce complete, accurate quantity takeoffs and estimates
• Working knowledge of drawings, specs, and means and methods
• Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid and Bluebeam Revu or ability to learn quickly
• MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Strong organizational, mathematical, and written/verbal communication skills
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Able to work full-time onsite in Indianapolis

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity takeoffs and disposal-quantity calculations for demolition and earthwork/sitework scopes
• Build bid items, activities, and pricing in HCSS HeavyBid using company cost data
• Review drawings and specs to identify scope, gaps, risks; write RFIs
• Conduct pre-bid site visits and document existing conditions with checklists and photos
• Develop subcontractor and vendor scopes; solicit and review pricing
• Draft clear bid exclusions and qualifications
• Complete owner bid forms and support DBE/MBE/WBE participation
• Prepare cost estimates and proposals; participate in internal bid reviews
• Hand off won projects to Operations with organized documentation
• Maintain cost-code tracking and estimating documentation standards

Job description:

Renascent Inc. is a demolition and construction services company and an industry-leading demolition contractor known for handling complex projects. We provide structural and interior demolition and site preparation for large buildings. We’re hiring a Civil/Demolition Estimator for our Indianapolis office to estimate a balanced mix of demolition and civil/sitework projects, from takeoff through proposal.

About the role

Reporting to the Director of Estimating, you’ll own estimates for demolition and sitework projects — both hard-bid and negotiated. You’ll perform takeoffs, build pricing, identify scope and risk, coordinate subcontractor pricing, and prepare proposals for owners and general contractors. This is a hands‑on, individual‑contributor role with a clear path to grow through our structured estimating development program.

What you’ll do

• Perform quantity takeoffs and disposal‑quantity calculations for demolition and earthwork/sitework scopes
• Build biditems, activities, and pricing in HCSS HeavyBid using company labor and equipment cost data
• Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to identify scope, gaps, assumptions, and risks; write and track RFIs
• Conduct pre‑bid site visits and document existing conditions (checklists and photo/drone capture)
• Develop subcontractor and vendor scopes of work; solicit, review, and level sub/vendor pricing
• Draft clear, defensible bid exclusions and qualifications
• Complete owner bid forms and support DBE/MBE/WBE participation requirements
• Prepare cost estimates and proposals; participate in internal bid reviews with operations, safety, and leadership
• Hand off won projects to Operations with complete, organized documentation
• Maintain cost‑code tracking and estimating documentation standards

What you bring (required)

• 2+ years of estimating experience in demolition or civil/sitework construction
• Ability to produce complete, accurate quantity takeoffs and estimates
• Working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and means and methods
• Proficiency with — or the ability to quickly learn — HCSS HeavyBid and Bluebeam Revu
• Competence with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Strong organizational, mathematical, and written/verbal communication skills
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (for site visits)
• Able to work full‑time, onsite in Indianapolis

Nice to have (or we’ll develop it)

• Degree in Construction Management or a related field
• Demolition‑specific knowledge (means and methods, engineering survey / OSHA Subpart T, permitting)
• Earthwork/sitework takeoff software experience
• Asbestos/lead awareness, HAZWOPER, RCRA/hazmat familiarity
• Exposure to 811 utility locates, salvage/scrap forecasting, bonding/surety, or insurance basics
• Comfort using AI tools to work faster and smarter (we actively use them in estimating)
