Rothrock Civil Construction is seeking a dependable General Laborer to support utility and construction crews. You will assist with trench preparation, pipe handling, backfilling, and maintaining a safe, organized job site. Qualifications

• 6 months to 1-year related experience in heavy civil construction.
• Training in trench safety and confined space.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform repetitive manual tasks.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Safety-focused mindset and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Trench Preparation: Hand-digging around utilities, installing safety shoring (trench boxes), and managing water pumps.
• Rigging & Handling: Signaling equipment operators to move heavy pipe sections and staging materials along the job site.
• Pipe Layer Support: Cleaning and lubricating joints, cutting pipe to length with chop saws, and grouting manhole connections.
• Backfilling & Compaction: Use jumping jacks or plate compactors to stabilize the soil and holding the grade rod for laser measurements.
• Site Safety: Acting as a spotter for heavy machinery, managing traffic control, and maintaining tools and equipment.
