Job summary

HDR is seeking a Civil Construction Inspector 2 in Ohio to join the Field Services team. You will conduct and document observations of civil infrastructure construction, read drawings, and collaborate with Project Managers to ensure quality and safety from design to completion.

Responsibilities include guiding junior staff, interpreting schedules, and maintaining documentation. HDR emphasizes employee ownership, inclusion, and delivering resilient infrastructure across communities.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent; substitution with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may apply.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in construction inspection.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Active participation in employee-owned culture is required.
• HDR’s Drug and Alcohol Policy; visa sponsorship not available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects (roads, bridges, water/wastewater, pump stations, pipelines).
• Collaborate with other field representatives or Project Managers.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications; identify discrepancies or conflicts.
• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses.
• Provide guidance to less-experienced field staff as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.
