Job summary

HDR is seeking a Civil Construction Inspector I in Kentucky to conduct and document observations on civil infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, water facilities, and pipelines. You will monitor progress, coordinate field sampling, and report under general supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma, proficiency in MS Office, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to HDR's employee-owned culture. Local candidates preferred; sponsorship not available.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects.
  • Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects.
  • Coordinate field materials sampling and testing (concrete slump/air, soil compaction).
  • Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector and perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Civil Construction Inspector I, we’ll count on you to:

  • Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations and pipelines
  • Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects
  • Coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in‑place soil compaction testing
  • Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some demonstrated experience in construction inspection
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules
  • KYTC certifications, other KYTC certifications or the ability to obtain
  • Road and Bridge construction
  • Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
