Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Civil Construction Inspector I in Phoenix, AZ. You will observe and document field construction, monitor progress, and coordinate materials testing for civil infrastructure projects.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, proficiency in MS Office, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Drug screening and participation in employee-owned culture are noted expectations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations and pipelines.
• Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects.
• Coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testing.
• Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress.
• Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Civil Construction Inspector I, we'll count on you to:

• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations and pipelines
• Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects
• Coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testing

• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical school or Associate degree
• Some demonstrated experience in construction inspection
• Ability to interpret construction schedules
