Assists in construction inspection under general supervision. Knows and applies fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures on the construction field. Possesses knowledge of related fields and areas of operation which affect, or are affected by own area.
- Attends various meetings as needed related to assigned construction projects
- Submits detailed documentation of daily construction activities
- Assists with coordination of required project acceptance testing
- Performs materials inspection and acceptance prior to installation
- Points out potential problems to the contractor and project engineer, and keeps project engineer and supervisor informed of progress of project
- Performs specific installation tasks, field measurements, and assigned duties
- Interprets and implements company and department mandated safety policies
- Responsible for job-specific quality system tasks
- Submits extensive written reports and documentation
- Completes and files construction reports and logs daily
- Maintains good relationships with clients, sub consultants, municipalities, and contractors
- Assists with all CM activities and develops/improves the contract admin process
- Conducts on-site observations and resolves construction admin problems
- Keeps supervisor informed of workload and project scope changes
- Provides accurate accounting of time spent on projects with descriptions on a weekly basis
Requirements

Education and/or Experience:
High school/GED, minimum of 4+ years experience in related field.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid driver’s license
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiar with Public Works Standard Specifications
- Good communicator
- Ability to read plans and understand project specifications
- Basic math skills for measurements and computations
- Ability to operate a level and understand grades, cut and fills
- Available to work nights and weekends as needed
- Ability to design/engineer moderately difficult engineering projects
- Project management skills and multitasking
- Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework
- Knowledge of industry-related software
- Fluent in English
Physical Demands:
Must be able to read reports, communicate effectively, and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, climbing, lifting up to 125 pounds, and using a computer and phone system.
