Job summary

Sunland Asphalt in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator for our Civil Construction division. You will operate heavy machinery, perform grading, handle materials, and assist with site prep on asphalt projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1–3 years equipment operator experience with scraper, loader, and gannon preferred.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate scrapers, loaders, and Gannon boxes.
• Perform rough and finish grading.
• Move, spread, and balance soil materials.
• Load and stockpile aggregates and construction materials.
• Prepare subgrade and base for asphalt paving.
• Read grade stakes, plans, and GPS guidance systems.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and maintenance checks.
• Follow all company and jobsite safety requirements.
• Assist with excavation, backfill, and site preparation.
• Support civil and asphalt crews to meet project schedules.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
