Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services seeks a Civil CAD Designer to join the Milwaukee, WI team, with additional opportunities in Cleveland, OH and Pittsburgh, PA. You will assist in planning and designing civil land development projects as part of a collaborative group of engineers.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree or higher in engineering, 1+ years of site/civil design experience, and strong AutoCAD/Civil 3D skills, with excellent communication and detail orientation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher with Civil Engineering focus or equivalent knowledge.
• 1+ years of site/civil design experience in planning and grading.
• Familiarity with land use permitting at local/state/federal levels.
• Strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D design skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess soil, terrain, hydrology, and geologic data to plan civil projects.
• Prepare planning/design documents with Project Engineers using CAD software.
• Perform zoning and feasibility assessments for developments.
• Conduct field inspections as needed.
• Draft or review reports including feasibility and stormwater studies.
• Interact professionally with clients and subcontractors with supervision.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Civil CAD Designer to join its collaborative team in Milwaukee, WI; Cleveland, OH; and Pittsburgh, PA. This individual will serve a key function in assisting the planning and designing of civil engineering land development projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a passionate, collaborative team of civil engineers, working on exciting and meaningful projects across many different market sectors.

Job Responsibilities

• Effectively use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects;
• Prepare the planning and designing documents of civil engineering, land development and infrastructure projects in close collaboration with Project Engineers using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and equipment;
• Perform zoning and other feasibility assessments for development projects;
• Perform field inspection services, as needed;
• Write and/or review draft reports, including feasibility studies, stormwater management reports, technical specifications, and utility reports;
• Interact in a professional manner with client and subcontractor representatives in close collaboration with supervisor;
• Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Sciences, enrollment in a bachelor's degree program with a focus in Civil Engineering, demonstrated equivalent knowledge, OR extensive AutoCAD/Civil 3D training;
• 1+ years of experience in site/civil design, including site planning, grading, stormwater management, drainage, and soil erosion is desired;
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal land use permitting;
• Strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D design skills;
• Occasional travel to project sites and/or client locations, as required;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
• Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment; and Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver's license in good standing.
