Job summary

CityVet is seeking a Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our team. A Veterinary Technician Assistant will be considered with a minimum of 1-year experience, aiding veterinarians to provide high-quality patient care and efficient daily operations.

Compensation is based on experience and education, with a supportive, team-oriented culture and opportunities for growth within our vet-led clinics.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 1 year veterinary industry experience.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinarians by preparing patients for surgery, administering anesthesia, taking x-rays, and collecting lab samples.
• Monitor patients post-op and restrain animals during exams.
• Obtain samples (stool, blood, etc.) for testing and help interpret results.
• Administer medications and provide client care instructions under the veterinarian’s plan.
• Communicate with clients to relay medical information and care instructions.
• Assist the Client Service Specialist team as needed.

CityVet islooking for Veterinary Technicians to join our team! A Veterinary Technician Assistant will be considered (with a minimum of 1-year experience).

Responsibilities

The Veterinary Technician (VT) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of their clients and patients. The Veterinary Technician works to relieve the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater levels of efficiency in daily practice. Veterinary Technicians help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and most importantly, the client.

A day in the life:

• Assist Veterinarians - prep patients for surgery (administer anesthesia/take x-rays/gather lab specimen), monitor patients post-op & restrain animals during exams
• Obtain Samples - gather stool, blood, and other samples for testing
• Testing - test the samples gathered and help to interpret the results
• Administer Medications - give patients accurate dosage of prescribed medications, anesthesia, vaccines, or other medications indicated by the DVM
• Client Communication - obtain medical information from the clients and provide the client proper instruction on how to care for the animal under the veterinarian’s plan of care
• Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed

Essential qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
• At least 3 year of veterinary industry experienceUnderstanding and ability to properly, and safely, restrain animals
• Knowledgeable on veterinary medical terminology and medication
• Lift 50 lbs to waist height
• Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication & listening skills
• Self-motivated & team-oriented
