CityVet in Edmond, OK is seeking Veterinary Technicians to join our team. A Veterinary Technician Assistant may be considered with a minimum of 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
The Veterinary Technician supports veterinarians by maintaining patient care, preparing for procedures, restraining animals, obtaining samples, and communicating with clients to ensure compassionate, accurate treatment and smooth daily operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
- Ability to properly and safely restrain animals.
- Knowledgeable in veterinary medical terminology and medication.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
Responsibilities
- Maintain excellent patient care and support operational productivity.
- Relieve the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail.
- Facilitate communication from operating room to front office and client.
- Assist veterinarians with patient prep for surgery and post-op care.
- Obtain samples and test materials for analysis.
- Administer medications and instruct clients on aftercare.

CityVet is looking for Veterinary Technicians to join our team! A Veterinary Technician Assistant will be considered (with a minimum of 1-year experience).
The Veterinary Technician (VT) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of their clients and patients. The Veterinary Technician works to relieve the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater levels of efficiency in daily practice. Veterinary Technicians help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and most importantly, the client.
- Assist Veterinarians - prep patients for surgery (administer anesthesia/take x-rays/gather lab specimen), monitor patients post-op & restrain animals during exams
- Obtain Samples - gather stool, blood, and other samples for testing
- Testing - test the samples gathered and help to interpret the results
- Administer Medications - give patients accurate dosage of prescribed medications, anesthesia, vaccines, or other medications indicated by the DVM
- Client Communication - obtain medical information from the clients and provide the client proper instruction on how to care for the animal under the veterinarian’s plan of care
- Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
- At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience
- Understanding and ability to properly, and safely, restrain animals
- Knowledgeable on veterinary medical terminology and medication
- Lift 50 lbs to waist height
- Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication & listening skills
- Self-motivated & team-oriented
