Base pay range

$17.00/hr - $19.41/hr

Rate of Pay: $17.00 - $19.41

Status: Open Until Filled

This is a second tier, skilled position within the Sanitation division. The role involves working daily from the back of a garbage collection truck, responsible for collecting garbage, trash, and brush throughout the city. It may also include acting as a replacement driver on routes, requiring the ability to operate a garbage truck safely.

• Works as a crew member with an assigned Route Driver on residential routes.
• Rides on the back of garbage trucks, collecting refuse from behind houses or curbside and dumping into trucks.
• Operates as a replacement driver as needed.
• Assists in unloading refuse at the landfill.
• Performs daily truck cleaning and assists with preventative maintenance inspections.
• Notifies supervisors of customer requests or complaints.

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Georgia "Class B" CDL and a clean seven-year driving record, with no recent DUIs.
• At least 1 year of recent heavy manual labor experience.
• Excellent physical condition, able to pass physical, drug screen, and background checks.
• Ability to lift 35-70 pounds regularly.
• Safe operation of garbage trucks in all traffic and weather conditions.
• Clear communication skills.
• Ability to operate the rear packer and simple hand tools when acting as a driver.
• Capable of filling out route sheets, charge tickets, and notices.

Successful candidates must submit to drug screening and background checks.
