Salt Lake City Corporation seeks an Associate City Prosecutor to join the Attorney's Office. You will conduct prosecutions in court on behalf of the City, review evidence, and advise on regulations.

Qualifications

• JD from ABA-accredited law school and bar membership in good standing.
• Ability to analyze facts, precedents and present material orally and in writing.
• Experience handling prosecution in court or related criminal matters.
• Ability to establish relationships with court officials and the public.
• Willingness to work flexible hours to meet caseload demands.

Responsibilities

• Conducts prosecution in court proceedings on behalf of the City.
• Reviews evidence, pleadings and briefs, and presents to courts.
• May negotiate settlements to terminate cases and reduce trial costs.
• Provides consultation to citizens on criminal law matters.
• Advises Police, Fire, and City personnel on legal issues.
• Prepares legal materials and ensures service to relevant parties.
• Appears before criminal and traffic courts on behalf of the City.
• Drafts briefs, memoranda, and materials for appeals.
• Assists with preparation of cases on appeal to higher courts.
