Job summary

The City of Plymouth is seeking an Associate Planner to participate in a broad range of planning and zoning efforts, including development and redevelopment, site plan review, interpretation of zoning and subdivision codes, research and background studies, long-range planning, and occasional zoning code enforcement.

You will coordinate development review with multiple city departments, prepare staff reports, and present recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field.
• 1 year related experience in planning or community development related activities.
• Proven public speaking and presentation abilities and experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, written correspondence and in person.
• Knowledge of zoning techniques and principles.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the coordination, review and evaluation of proposed development plans.
• Review applications for site plans, variances and conditional use permits and work with applicants.
• Coordinate development review with other city departments.
• Prepare staff reports and present recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council.
• Assist with drafting and updating city zoning and large-scale plans.
