The City of Rolling Meadows Community Development Department is seeking qualified applicants to serve as the Department’s next CDD Secretary. This position works as part of a team of three public-facing administrative professionals within a department of ten staff. Examples of common duties include: receiving building permit applications and scheduling inspections; issuing licenses for City businesses and rental properties; responding to business and resident inquiries; and filing, scanning, and maintaining public records. The current vacancy is due to an upcoming retirement that will conclude 24 years of service to Rolling Meadows. This position is represented by AFSCME Council 31 and pay and benefits are determined by AFSCME’s collective bargaining agreement with the City.
About the City: Rolling Meadows is a dynamic and forward-thinking organization serving an energetic, friendly and diverse community of over 24,000 residents across 5.64 square miles. Rolling Meadows is located in the northwest suburbs of the Chicago metropolitan area in the region known as the “Golden Corridor” at Interstate 90 and Illinois Route 53. The City’s downtown area along Kirchoff Road features brick-lined sidewalks, thousands of beautiful shade trees and the landmark Carillon Bell Tower and the Veterans Memorial. Along Algonquin Road, modern office towers are home to some of the world’s most renowned corporations, while Golf Road maintains a prestigious corporate-like campus atmosphere. The City is home to several large employers including Northrup Grumman and the global headquarters for Arthur J. Gallagher. In addition, there are more than 400 shops and restaurants in the area and numerous cultural attractions nearby.
Education & Experience Requirements: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of three years of office experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates should highlight prior experience in local government offices (building, zoning, community development, etc.) or, alternatively, with private sector firms involved in real estate development (contractors, engineers, architects, etc.). Prior experience with Tyler Energov is desirable.
Compensation & Benefits The authorized pay range for this position is $ 53,680 to $76,686 annually, with starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience. This position is represented by AFSCME Council 31 and pay and benefits are determined by AFSCME’s collective bargaining agreement with the City. The City offers a generous benefits package through this agreement including 10 paid holidays, 10 vacation days accrued in the first year, 3 floating holidays, 12 sick days accrued annually, HMO health insurance plans (City pays 85% of premiums) and dental coverage, and tuition reimbursement up to $4,500 per year after three years of employment.
