Job summary

The Deputy City Marshal role in City of Pasadena, TX provides law enforcement and protective services for the Municipal Court, City Hall and City facilities to ensure public safety and compliance with state laws and city ordinances. Duties

The Deputy City Marshal provides law enforcement and protective services for the Municipal Court, City Hall, and City Facilities to ensure public safety and foster general compliance with State laws and City ordinances. Assists with municipal corrections transport, municipal warrants, and enforces the laws of the government, state, and city, and to serve the people in the manner necessary within the scope and duty of their assignment. Executes warrant of arrest and/or serves civil process issued out of the Municipal Court, City Attorneys' office, City Prosecutor, City Secretary, City Health Official, Civil Service Commission, or any Municipal entity possessing subpoena power to obtain evidence for court proceedings. Use problem solving skills, creativity, and innovative approaches to identify concerns, present options for courses of action, identify resources, plan for desired changes, and evaluate success. Coordinate information and resources among other department employees, public and private agencies, and citizens regarding crime problems, security issues, and solutions. Recognize suspicious behaviors of persons, which may indicate involvement in criminal offenses, and stopping and interviewing suspicious persons. Maintains order in a Municipal courtroom and protects Judges, Prosecuting Attorneys, and others from physical violence to ensure courtroom safety and compliance with courtroom procedures. Transports and books into jail all subjects arrested on City of Pasadena warrants from surrounding agencies to ensure safety to citizens and property. Transports prisoners from the municipal jail to the Harris County jail. Research warrants/subjects by accessing City, State, or Federal records to enable disposition of disputed cases or warrants and ensure all pertinent information is correct and available to proceed accordingly. Makes determination whether or not to incarcerate individuals with class "C" criminal arrest warrants ensuring protection for the public and/or property. Arrest persons observed committing crimes in absence of or with Pasadena Police officers to enforce laws and provide protection to officers. Enforce all City, State, and Federal laws. May be required to make daily runs to the bank and to/from other departments. Provides appropriate courtroom testimony as subpoenaed and applies proper courtroom techniques, rules of evidence, and procedures to ensure safety of citizens and protect the rights of those accused of crimes. Monitor/enforce Court Security requirements. Maintains security for City Hall ensuring the safety of its employees and citizens. Maintains decorum in the courtroom during court proceedings. Remove or restrain unruly subjects out of courtroom. Maintain Police Officer certification and proficiency with a firearm. Conduct him/herself in accordance with high ethical standards, both on and off duty. Understand and follow all legal, oral, and written instructions given. Fill out and submit reports. Maintain assigned City vehicle. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy. Must maintain sufficient personal credibility in order to support the validity of their statements in all official matters. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Basic law enforcement certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Valid State of Texas Class "C" or higher Operator's Driver License and a good driving record. Minimum of two (2) years of full-time law enforcement experience. Thorough knowledge of principles and laws of arrest, Texas Penal Code, and Code of Criminal Procedures PREFERRED: Bilingual (English/Spanish).

    • Less than 6 years of service - two weeks of vacation per year.
    • From 6 to less than 11 years of service - three weeks of vacation per year.
    • From 11 to less than 21 years of service - four weeks of vacation per year.
    • From 21 to less than 26 years of service - five weeks of vacation per year.
    • From 26 years of service and up - six weeks of vacation per year.

Salary: $35.94 per hour
