Job summary

City of Henderson is seeking a Finance Director to plan, organize, and direct the City’s financial operations. You will oversee budgeting, accounting, payroll, investments, and grant administration, guiding strategy and controls for fiscal integrity.

Ideal candidates have strong public finance experience, leadership skills, and a track record in policy development and cross-department collaboration with the City Manager and Council.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 7 years of public finance experience.
• 5+ years of supervision experience over a finance team.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Finance Department operations including budgeting, accounting, and payroll.
• Oversee budget development, revenue forecasting, and financial reporting to City Council.
• Coordinate annual audits and preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
• Ensure internal controls, risk management, and compliance with NC statutes and city policies.
