Job summary

The City of Rochester is seeking an experienced City Engineer to lead the Bureau of Architecture and Engineering and to shape Rochester's public infrastructure portfolio. The role requires guiding the planning, design, and construction of major projects while collaborating with officials, partners, and residents to enhance mobility, safety, and quality of life.

Qualifications

• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE), or the ability to obtain New York licensure.
• Progressive leadership experience in municipal engineering, public works, transportation, infrastructure, or consulting.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex capital projects.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational leadership skills.
• A commitment to public service and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Bureau of Architecture and Engineering.
• Oversee planning, design, and construction of complex public infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with elected officials, community partners, consultants, and residents to improve public spaces and mobility.
• Direct and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers and architects to deliver projects on time and within budget.
