The City of Lauderhill seeks a City Engineer to plan, organize, direct, and manage professional engineering programs, projects, and services under the Development Services Director. The City Engineer directs design, review, permitting, and construction of streets, stormwater, water, sewer, and facilities citywide.

The purpose of this position is to plan, organize, direct, and manage the professional engineering programs, projects, and services of the City of Lauderhill, under the general direction of the Development Services Director or designee. The City Engineer directs the design, review, permitting, and construction of the City’s infrastructure, including streets, stormwater, water, sewer, traffic, and public facilities, assists in the administration of the City’s Capital Improvement Program, oversees the engineering review of private development, and serves as the City’s principal technical authority and advisor on engineering matters. This is a management classification distinguished by broad independent judgment, responsible for professional and technical processes and accountability for programs that affect multiple departments and Citywide operations. Performs other work as requested. The following duties are representative of work performed in this classification. Additional duties may be assigned. Driving Requirements: The ability to drive and operate a personal or City vehicle to travel to construction sites, project locations and meetings throughout and outside the City, and to enter and exit the vehicle various times throughout the day.
Physical Requirements: Tasks are primarily performed in an office setting and involve light physical effort, with periodic field work at construction sites and project locations that may require some combination of walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light to moderate weight (10–20 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements: The ability to perceive and differentiate audio and/or visual cues or signals, and to perceive and differentiate depths, colors, and textures relevant to plan review and field inspection.
Communication: The ability to effectively communicate with City employees, officials, stakeholders, and the general public, verbally and in writing, to deliver and explain information in a variety of technical and professional languages, and to prepare written correspondence, documents, reports, and analyses using proper format, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Data Utilization: The ability to synthesize, hypothesize, and theorize concerning data and information involving modification of existing policies, strategies, and methods to meet unique or unusual conditions, and to do so within the context of established engineering principles and management practices.
