JOB SUMMARY

The job duties of the City Engineer include but are not limited to administering Public Works projects in a timely and efficient manner, overseeing the City’s biogas facility in an efficient manner and to help other departments achieve their goals to better serve the community; to move the City of Dodge City forward to meet future demands and goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties described below are indicative of what the City Engineer may be asked to perform; other duties may be assigned:

Expectation to plan and oversee Public Works projects:

  • Plan and oversee the letting, construction and administration of Public Works projects.
  • Correspond with citizens of the community about their concerns and work to solve them.
  • Review the progress of each employee during their assigned jobs.
  • Oversee operating budgets and review daily; establish project costs.
  • Prepare information for other city departments.
  • Assist other departments when needed.
  • Supervises employees, projects, and other activities.

Expectation to plan and oversee the City’s biogas facility and all projects:

  • Coordinating the overall production, monitoring, and reporting of all operations.
  • Manage facility compliance/certification with the EPA RFS (Renewable Fuel Standard), ISCC and NIS (Italian National Scheme) to ensure maximum revenue generation.
    • Maintain complete and accurate records.
    • Navigate annual recertification training and audits for ISCC.
    • Complete QAP audit site visits for the EPA.
    • Complete recertification audits with the NIS.
    • Manage and maintain daily, monthly, and annual production & utility data.
    • Submit QAP documentation including production affidavits, production volumes, and utility billing.
  • Research options/process to improve methane recovery and explore ways to operate the facility more efficiently.
  • Review and comment on design studies and plans for construction improvements/upgrades to the facility.
