Job summary

City of Covington is seeking a Comptroller to oversee accounting, financial reporting and internal controls. You will manage the general ledger, month-end and year-end close, and ACFR preparation, acting as the liaison to external auditors and ensuring GAAP/GASB compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting, auditing, financial reporting or related experience.
  • Supervisory experience is required; CPA or related licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting functions including general ledger, month-end close, and year-end close.
  • Direct preparation of the ACFR in accordance with GAAP and GASB standards.
  • Serve as lead liaison to external auditors and coordinate annual audits.
  • Maintain internal controls, analyze data integrity, and address irregularities.
  • Provide financial information and staff training; support system evaluations and technology adoption.
  • Contribute to development and monitoring of the Operating Budget and Capital Investment Program.
