This exceptional executive position provides legal advice and representation to the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, City Clerk and many other departments, boards and commissions, agencies, officials, and employees on a broad range of legal issues. The City Attorney reports directly to the Mayor and City Council. This position requires:

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school;
• Licensed to practice law in North Carolina or eligible for comity licensure;
• At least 10 years of relevant experience;
• Broad knowledge of judicial procedures and rules of evidence, with successful trial and appellate litigation experience; and
• Highly skilled in legal research, drafting legal documents, ordinances, and opinions, and providing legal advice in public and private.
