Citrix VDI Systems Architect (100% remote, Contract, W2 Only)

Location: 100% Remote, must work 8:00 am 5:00 pm Eastern Time

Engagement: W2 contract only (no third party candidates please), one year engagement with possible extension.

We're looking for a skilled Citrix VDI Architect to support the design, stability, and evolution of a secure, large-scale virtual desktop infrastructure for a prominent academic institution. You'll be part of a fast-paced, highly technical team tackling advanced virtualization challenges in a Windows-based environment.

About the Environment
You'll join a collaborative IT division focused on delivering reliable, secure, and efficient virtual workspaces. This team is currently scaling its virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) into a fully supported service. It's a rewarding environment for someone who thrives on problem-solving, building systems from the ground up, and shaping standards that impact thousands of users.

What You'll Do

• Provide Level 2 and 3 support for a Citrix/XenApps environment
• Monitor and troubleshoot end-user VDI sessions and back-end components
• Respond to support requests related to Citrix, VMware, and Microsoft Windows Servers
• Ensure systems are patched and meet change management/security requirements
• Act as subject matter expert for Citrix VDI operations and architecture
• Assist in developing system documentation, runbooks, and training for admins
• Participate in technical reviews and client update meetings
• Support core Microsoft services: AD, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy, ADFS, WSUS

Technical Landscape

What We're Looking For

• Proven expertise in Citrix/XenApps and VMware-based infrastructures
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server architecture

• Experience training others and documenting processes clearly
• Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)

Nice to Have

• Citrix certification
• Experience leading infrastructure upgrades or transformation efforts
• Familiarity with ITIL practices and structured change management
• Background in workflow analysis and large-scale enterprise environments
